Have you or a loved one suffered as the result of inadequate sepsis care?

Sepsis (also known as blood poisoning) is a serious condition that occurs when the body’s immune system overreacts to an infection. It can arise from something simple like a urinary tract infection or even an insect bite. Sepsis is responsible for the deaths of up to 46,000 people in the UK each year.

If sepsis is not recognised and treated promptly, our immune system attacks our own organs and tissues. If there are delays in treatment, sepsis can quickly cause organ failure and can be fatal. However, prompt treatment with antibiotics can mean a full recovery.

Symptoms of sepsis can vary greatly between adults and children but the one common factor is a rash which does not fade when a glass is rolled over it – this is sometimes described as “mottling”. More information on the symptoms can be found here.

If you or a loved one have suffered from sepsis and you feel that it should have been recognised sooner, there may be a claim in clinical negligence. We have a register of experienced experts on hand whom we can approach to comment upon the standard of care you received whilst in hospital.

So if you feel you have suffered as a result of failure to diagnose sepsis soon enough, don’t delay – speak to one of our clinical negligence team today by clicking here.
